Another man has been arrested in connection with a case of unlawful deprivation of liberty that occurred in Skals, near Viborg, over the weekend. On Wednesday, a 31-year-old man was remanded in custody for nearly four weeks by the Viborg Court (Retten i Viborg). According to Viborg Folkeblad, which was present during the court hearing, the 31-year-old denies the charges against him.
The victim in the case is a 19-year-old man, who the police believe was held captive for approximately 3 to 4 hours. During the period of detention, the 19-year-old was subjected to both physical assaults, including punches and kicks to the body and face. The police suspect that the incident may stem from a conflict within the drug community.
The 19-year-old contacted the police himself and reported the assault at 21:18 on Saturday evening. By Sunday, a 39-year-old man was also remanded in custody in connection with the case, with indications that several perpetrators may still be at large. Duty officer Anders Bøje Hansen from Mid and West Jutland Police (Midt- og Vestjyllands Politi) stated on Sunday to the news agency Ritzau that it is believed that two additional individuals may be involved in the incident.
Wednesday’s preliminary court hearing was held behind closed doors, meaning that the public has not been privy to the details from the court session. The incident took place in Skals, located 13 kilometers north of Viborg. The police continue to work on resolving the case and locating the other suspects.
