An incident involving yellow smoke from an industrial building in Roskilde led to the evacuation of several people on Wednesday morning. The Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi) are working intensively to manage the situation that occurred on Maglegårdsvej in the city.
According to an update from the police on the social media platform X, the ZBC educational institution and some surrounding properties were evacuated. Just before 09:30 AM local time, police announced that the evacuation had concluded. Although the school year has not yet begun, approximately 100 students living on campus, along with some staff members, were evacuated as a result of the incident.
The police’s communications department reported that the cause of the smoke was due to a breach in containers holding nitric acid and sulfuric acid within the building, which resulted in the yellow smoke. An area around the building has been cordoned off, and the police expect to conclude their operations by early afternoon on Wednesday.
