Peter Kofod, the spokesperson for legal affairs for the Danish People’s Party (Dansk Folkeparti), has expressed concern about the current situation in Sweden. “When I was a boy, Sweden exported Volvo, crispbread, caviar, and other good things. Now it’s Islamic fanaticism, gang wars, and child soldiers. It’s enough to make you cry,” Kofod remarked, referring to recent violent incidents in Copenhagen.
A 43-year-old man lost his life on Thursday in the Nørrebro district after being shot. Kofod emphasized that the situation cannot be ignored and pointed to the government’s responsibility for having abolished border control with Sweden. “We don’t know much about the shooting, but it is the Minister of Justice and the government that bear significant responsibility,” Kofod stated.
He describes the current situation in Sweden as a “calamity of civilization” and claims that Swedish authorities have lost control of crime. The Minister of Justice has previously stated that border controls would unlikely have prevented recent incidents, but Kofod rejects this assertion: “It’s completely absurd that Danish authorities have so little focus on the situation in Sweden. Free movement from Sweden under the current conditions is pure utopia,” he stated.
The concerns raised by Kofod reflect a growing anxiety about security and crime in the region, particularly in light of increasing reports of violent crime linked to organized gangs and extremist ideologies in Sweden.
