Five individuals were apprehended by police after fleeing the scene of a traffic accident in Aalborg, Denmark, thanks to vigilant witnesses. According to a press release from North Jutland Police (Nordjyllands Politi), authorities suspect that the incident may be related to ongoing conflicts between groups known to law enforcement.
The accident was reported at 4:49 PM on Skalborg Bakke in Aalborg, involving two vehicles. When police arrived, one of the vehicles had already left the scene. However, due to witness accounts, authorities were quickly able to locate both the vehicle and the five individuals who had fled. All five suspects are now in police custody.
During a search of the remaining vehicle, police discovered several weapons, which have been confiscated and are under further investigation, according to Police Commissioner Kenneth Rodam.
The police are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking additional individuals who may have been involved in the escape from the accident. They encourage the public to reach out via phone number 114 if they have relevant information.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the accident, and one of the vehicles involved bore Swedish license plates. However, Kenneth Rodam has stated that, at this time, there is no direct connection between this incident and recent cases where young Swedes have been arrested in Denmark on charges of attempted murder. Danish and Swedish police have previously noted that young Swedes are allegedly being paid to commit crimes in Denmark.
“We have this hypothesis in mind, but at the moment, we see no reason to link these incidents,” stated Kenneth Rodam.
