The criminal allegations against a small group of men at the Skærbæk asylum center include theft, defamation, unpleasant harassment, and breaches of modesty. Recently, more incidents have come to light. Last Friday, a Mobile Police Station was set up in Skærbæk from 4 PM to 6 PM to address the growing concerns of local residents. Several residents, including Nina, who no longer feels safe walking out alone in the evenings, attended the event to speak with the police and share their experiences.

Police Inspector Henrik Thrane Jensen from the South and South Jutland Police (Syd- og Sønderjyllands Politi) has stated that residents have been encouraged to report any behavior or criminal activity that creates an unsafe environment, which several have done. The police are currently investigating an additional five to seven incidents, all involving inappropriate behavior and disturbances committed by the same group from the asylum center.

Henrik Thrane Jensen emphasizes the importance of stopping the actions of these individuals to restore safety in Skærbæk. The situation has prompted Tina Israelsen, the principal of Skærbæk Realskole (Skærbæk Secondary School), to take drastic measures to address the sense of insecurity in the community.

Tønder Municipality has organized a town hall meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 14, at the Skærbæk Center. Representatives from the South and South Jutland Police will also be present to discuss and address residents’ concerns.
