In the Court of Aarhus, a man in his 30s was charged on Saturday with allegedly raping an acquaintance early Friday morning in Tranbjerg, a suburb of Aarhus, Denmark. The East Jutland Police (Østjyllands Politi) reported that the judge found sufficient grounds to remand the man in custody for four weeks, as the nature of the alleged rape has been deemed particularly dangerous.
The charge details that the woman was subjected to violence and threats, including the use of a chokehold. Prosecutor Birgitte Ernst emphasized that this case does not involve a stranger assault, as both the victim and the perpetrator were known to each other.
Further details about the case remain confidential, as the preliminary hearing took place behind closed doors. The arrested individual, who was detained shortly after the incident was reported at 8:30 am, denies the allegations and has already appealed the detention order to the High Court.
