Early Sunday, the North Jutland Police (Nordjyllands Politi) had a significant presence in the Øgadekvarteret neighborhood of Aalborg. This was reported on the social media platform X, where the police explained that their actions were part of an ongoing investigation. Later in the day, a press release clarified the details of the case.
The police received a report of gunfire at a gas station in eastern Aalborg during the early hours of Sunday, where a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg. The young man is not in life-threatening condition. A 21-year-old individual has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Before the 21-year-old’s arrest, the police had also detained six other individuals in connection with the case, but these individuals have since been released. “It is the police’s assessment that the six individuals are victims in this case. They have now been interviewed and released,” stated Police Commissioner Carsten Straszek.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted with high intensity. “We are investigating thoroughly and leaving no stone unturned; such an incident occurring in a public area is completely unacceptable and has no place in our society. There is no doubt that we take this case seriously and are taking the necessary precautions,” emphasized Straszek.
