Andreas Odbjerg’s concert experience did not go entirely as planned when the sound suddenly vanished during this year’s Smukfest. However, according to the festival’s management, this year’s edition of Smukfest has been a great success. “We have had an incredibly well-executed festival that has been beautiful, good, impressive, and stable,” stated Trine Bang, the festival’s content manager, despite the technical challenges.
The technical issues arose on multiple occasions. When Andreas Odbjerg opened the Bøgescenen (Beech Stage) on Wednesday, the sound cut out just before his popular hit “I morgen er der også en dag” (Tomorrow is Another Day), causing many in the audience to leave. This also led to the postponement of Sanne Salomon’s upcoming show by more than half an hour. The sound problems recurred the following night during Thor Farlov’s performance, and briefly again during Ukendt Kunstner’s concert on Saturday.
Despite these challenges, the festival has refrained from commenting on the technical issues and has instead focused on the positive aspects of the event. Trine Bang particularly highlighted how the festival managed to handle large crowds without long queues or significant congestion. She emphasized that with 44 years of experience, Smukfest is a master in festival execution, which was visibly apparent on-site.
Throughout the duration of the festival, approximately 60,000 guests attended daily, and according to the organizers, the event has overall been a great success. Smukfest commenced on Wednesday, August 7, and will conclude on Sunday.
