A 75-year-old woman was found lifeless in the water near Rørvig Harbor on Sunday afternoon and is now hospitalized in critical condition at Rigshospitalet, the National Hospital of Denmark. The woman was discovered shortly before 5 PM by two sailors who happened to pass by in their boat. They reacted quickly, managed to get the woman out of the water, and sailed her to shore, where she received first aid before being flown to the trauma center.
The police suspect that the elderly woman, who lives in Odsherred, experienced a health emergency while swimming. “Everything indicates that this is what occurred,” stated duty officer Thomas Kristensen from the Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi).
The woman’s family has been notified, and her condition remains critical, according to the police on Monday morning.
