On August 19th, King Frederik and Queen Mary will embark on a late summer tour, visiting some of Denmark’s beautiful islands, including Ærø and Bornholm. Over the course of four days, the royal couple will participate in a series of activities ranging from carriage rides on Bornholm to whiskey tastings on Ærø and a stroll through the town of Assens.
The tour will kick off at Rønne Harbor, where the couple will arrive aboard the royal yacht “Dannebrog” (Dannebrog). They will be greeted with great festivities, including a nine-fold cheer from the crowd and music provided by the Royal Life Guards Band (Den Kongelige Livgarde Musikkorps).
During their time on Bornholm, the couple is scheduled to visit Rønne Theater, Denmark’s oldest operating theater with over 200 years of history. Here, they will gain insight into the theater’s rich cultural heritage. The royal couple will also take a hike in the scenic Ekkodalen, a popular natural site known for its unique geological formations.
The next day, the tour continues to Ærø, where the King and Queen will visit the local whisky distillery, Ærø Whisky (Ærø Whisky). They will receive a guided tour and enjoy tastings of local products, highlighting the craftsmanship of Danish distilling.
The final part of the tour will take place in Assens, where a picturesque walk through the town is planned. Overall, the royal tour offers a diverse array of experiences, showcasing the best of Danish culture and nature.
