Copenhagen police have achieved success with their latest initiative aimed at combating the growing gang conflict in the capital. Since the establishment of two search zones on Friday evening, authorities have confiscated a number of dangerous weapons, including a loaded pistol, five knives, and a pepper spray. This has resulted from approximately 150 searches, leading to charges against six individuals for illegal possession of weapons.
One of the charged individuals, a 15-year-old Danish boy, has now been remanded in custody for possession of the pistol. The search zones were created in response to an escalating conflict between the gang Loyal to Familia (LTF) and another Swedish-Danish group, and the frequent violent incidents in the city have heightened the need for police presence.
The conflict has resulted in several serious incidents. Among these, a 43-year-old man was shot and killed in the Nørrebro district, a hand grenade was thrown into a kiosk in the Østerbro area, and an 18-year-old man was shot in Frederiksberg.
The police continue their efforts to restore peace and security in Copenhagen and to prevent further violence and chaos on the streets.
