A serious fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a swimming pool in Aalborg, Denmark. According to updates shared on social media platform X by Nordjyllands Beredskab (North Jutland Emergency Services) and Nordjyllands Politi (North Jutland Police), flames erupted from the roof of the Østre Allé Swimming Pool located on Samsøgade.
Emergency services responded swiftly, deploying both firefighting vehicles and a response leader. Large amounts of smoke have been reported, spreading across the northern Jutland urban area. The local newspaper Nordjyske describes the incident as a “large fire.”
Nordjyllands Politi has warned about the heavy smoke development and urged residents in the area to stay indoors, keeping doors, windows, and ventilation systems closed. “There is intense smoke development. We are currently working to gain an overview and ensure the safety of people in the area,” the police stated. Residents living near the swimming pool have been particularly advised to take these precautions.
John Larsen, chairman of the Aalborg Swimming Club, informed Nordjyske that the swimming pool was empty at the time the fire broke out. “As far as I know, there was no one inside training when the fire started,” he stated.
According to TV 2 Nord, Aalborg Station has sent five firefighting vehicles, a response leader, and a damage manager to the scene, alongside a station from Nibe that is also participating in the firefighting efforts.
