A 25-year-old Swedish man is set to appear in a preliminary court hearing on Wednesday at the Frederiksberg Court after being found with two hand grenades in Tingbjerg, Copenhagen, on Tuesday evening. The Copenhagen Police have reported that the man was arrested near Utterslev Mose, a nature area in the city. Images from the scene showed the man in a light blue DNA suit, being escorted to a police vehicle. Police dogs and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit were also involved in the operation.
This incident adds to a series of Swedish nationals who have been arrested in Denmark in recent months. For instance, a 24-year-old Swedish woman and a Swedish man were detained over the weekend for attempted murder after allegedly detonating a hand grenade in a kiosk in Østerbro, a neighborhood in Copenhagen. They are currently in custody until September 2.
These episodes have prompted Denmark to tighten border control measures with Sweden, including an increased police presence on trains arriving from Sweden. The aim is to prevent further criminal activities involving Swedish individuals. During the preliminary hearing at Frederiksberg, it is expected that the prosecution will request that the proceedings be held behind closed doors.
