Danish Taxi Company Drivr Partners with Global Ride-Hailing App Uber in 2024

The Danish taxi company Drivr has announced a strategic partnership with the global ride-hailing app Uber. This collaboration means that starting next year, it will once again be possible to order a taxi through the Uber app in Denmark after a seven-year absence.

Previously, the Uber app was not operational in Copenhagen, but this will change in 2024 when Drivr and Uber jointly relaunch the service. Uber will provide the app, while Drivr will supply the vehicles and drivers, all in accordance with Danish regulations. “We are combining the best of both worlds,” stated Bo Svane, the CEO of Drivr. He emphasizes Uber’s technological expertise and Drivr’s local knowledge as the perfect recipe for success.

Uber withdrew from the Danish market in 2017 due to new taxi legislation that imposed stricter requirements on the service. At that time, Uber’s management was clear that they would not comply with the new rules. However, times have changed, and Uber has now adopted a more cooperative approach to the market. Maurits Schönfeld, who leads Uber in Northern Europe, emphasizes that Uber in 2024 values partnerships and collaboration.

A key aspect of this new collaboration is that users will be able to order Drivr taxis through the Uber app. This is expected to make daily life easier for customers and to attract more users. “A good consumer experience requires both a reliable app and skilled drivers,” said Schönfeld. He notes that this model is already being successfully used in several other European cities.

The Uber app offers various features that enhance the user experience, such as the ability to view the driver’s profile and share their ride with friends and family. These features create a sense of security and trust among users. “You know that when you order a car, it will be there within five minutes,” Schönfeld adds.

Bo Svane from Drivr is particularly enthusiastic about the intuitive and user-friendly app, which he believes will make people more likely to choose Drivr’s services. He hopes that the collaboration with Uber will attract both locals and tourists in Copenhagen. Overall, this partnership promises to create a more seamless and efficient transportation solution in the Danish capital.
