A tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning at Svanemølle Bay in Copenhagen, where a 57-year-old woman was found lifeless in the water. The discovery was made by morning swimmers from a local bathing club at Svaneknoppen, who immediately contacted emergency services.
Police and rescue teams arrived quickly at the scene, including divers, surface rescuers, and emergency medical personnel, and were able to recover the woman. She was promptly taken to Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen University Hospital) in critical condition. However, despite the doctors’ diligent efforts to revive her, she could not be saved and was later pronounced dead.
“We currently have no indications that anything criminal has occurred,” stated Duty Officer Dyre Sønnicksen from the Copenhagen Police (Københavns Politi). “We do not yet know if this is an accident, a medical episode, or something else, and investigations are ongoing.”
The police are urging any witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward and contact them at phone number 114. The woman’s close relatives have been informed of this tragic event.
