Three individuals have been remanded in custody for 12 days in connection with a group sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Aarhus, Denmark. This information was provided by East Jutland Police (Østjyllands Politi) on the social media platform X, following closed-door hearings of the suspects’ testimonies, as two additional suspects remain at large.
The incident was reported on Saturday afternoon by a 37-year-old woman who claims to have been raped in an apartment in central Aarhus. The assault is said to have taken place in broad daylight, and the three men were quickly arrested in connection with the case. They appeared in a preliminary court hearing on Sunday and are now charged with both rape and unlawful detention.
According to details revealed by the court, as reported by the regional newspaper Århus Stiftstidende, the three men are accused of holding the woman against her will from around 7 AM to approximately 1 PM on Langenæs Allé, a street in Aarhus. During the incident, the woman was allegedly restrained and vaginally raped, with attempts of anal rape also reported. All of the suspects have pleaded not guilty.
The police have indicated that the three arrested individuals are described as “non-ethnic Danes”. They were apprehended near the crime scene after the woman managed to ask a passerby to contact the police. According to the police, the woman did not know the alleged assailants prior to the incident.
