A 24-year-old man from Kolding has been convicted of sexual offenses against minors but will not be subjected to additional imprisonment. In a court ruling yesterday at the Esbjerg Court (Retten i Esbjerg), the man received a sentence of one year in prison, along with an additional six months’ conditional imprisonment for offenses involving four children under the age of 15, as well as possession of child pornography.
Since he has already been in custody for nearly a year, he has effectively served his unconditional prison sentence. Prosecutor Malene Ann Hansen from the South and South Jutland Police (Syd- og Sønderjyllands Politi) has stated that the man has also been issued a restraining order that prevents him from contacting children and young people under the age of 18 online, unless he is already acquainted with them.
The prosecutor’s initial recommendation was for the man to receive a sentence of two years and six months in prison, and she is currently considering whether to appeal the ruling to the Western High Court (Vestre Landsret). The sexual offenses occurred from May to August 2022 in various locations, including Tjæreborg, Haderslev, Brørup, and Faaborg.
