48-year-old man found dead near former hospital; police arrest two suspects

A 48-year-old man was found lifeless on Sunday morning in a small lake near the former Marselisborg Hospital in Aarhus, leading the police to label the death as ‘suspicious.’ On Monday, the East Jutland Police (Østjyllands Politi) announced that they have arrested two individuals in connection with the case.

The two men, aged 35 and 40, were both detained on Sunday—first around 1:45 PM and later in the afternoon. The police have not clarified their possible connection to the death, but both are suspected of having been in the area at the time of the 48-year-old man’s death. It is also unclear whether they will be presented in a preliminary court hearing (grundlovsforhør).

The discovery of the deceased man at 10:46 AM on Sunday has triggered a comprehensive investigation. Although the police did not find immediate signs of violence or foul play, several aspects surrounding the death appeared suspicious enough to warrant the closure of a large area around the lake.

An autopsy of the deceased man—a Polish citizen without a permanent residence in Denmark—is expected to shed light on the cause of death, which remains unknown as of Monday morning. The police are operating under the assumption that the deceased man was in the area before his death with several other individuals.
