A teenager has been remanded in custody in Jönköping, Sweden, based on a Danish arrest warrant. The 15-year-old boy was detained following a Nordic arrest warrant issued by Danish authorities, accused of attempted murder, according to Swedish media outlet P4 Jönköping. Danish police seek to have the boy extradited for prosecution in Denmark.

A document from the Swedish prosecution service, accessed by the Danish news agency Ritzau, confirms that the teenager was arrested on Friday at 6:12 PM. The preliminary hearing took place behind closed doors, and it was reported that the young boy has chosen not to comment on the charges and pleads not guilty. The boy is from the southern part of Jönköping, as reported by P4 Jönköping.

Copenhagen Police (Københavns Politi) have confirmed that the arrest warrant originates from them but have not disclosed specific details regarding the exact nature of the teenager’s alleged offenses.

The 15-year-old is not the only individual to be held in custody as a result of charges from Danish authorities. Earlier in the week, a 21-year-old Swedish man was presented in a preliminary hearing in Denmark, also facing demands for extradition. This follows an incident involving a 24-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, who were involved in an event where a hand grenade was thrown into a kiosk in Østerbro, Copenhagen. They were quickly arrested near the Øresund Bridge, which connects Denmark and Sweden, and have also been remanded in custody.

The recent violent incidents linked to Swedish criminals have led to increased security measures at the border with Sweden. Danish Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard has implemented several safety procedures, including enhanced police presence on the Øresund trains and advanced license plate recognition systems.
