A bus operated by the transportation company Kombardo Expressen caught fire on Oddenvej on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by the Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi). The incident caused significant traffic disruptions in both directions and was covered by P4 Traffic Copenhagen & Zealand, a local traffic news service.
Extra Bladet, a Danish news outlet, quickly reported that it was indeed a Kombardo bus, a detail later confirmed by Jesper Maack, the communications director of Molslijnen. Kombardo Expressen is part of the Molslijnen fleet and operates routes including the one between Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city. Oddenvej is an important route for travelers heading to Odden Ferry Port (Odden Færgehavn), where they can catch a ferry to Aarhus.
According to duty officer Asger Bechstrøm from the Mid and West Zealand Police, their team had not yet reached the burning bus by 17:15 and thus did not have further details about the circumstances surrounding the fire.
