Police in Funen Have Sounded the Alarm After Discovery of Unknown Substances

The police in the Funen region of Denmark have raised an alarm following the discovery of several barrels containing an unknown substance during excavation work at the ‘Lynfrostgrunden’ site in Nyborg. This finding has resulted in the establishment of a large danger zone, which encompasses areas around Lynfrostgrunden, as well as nearby locations including a McDonald’s, Lidl supermarket, Carl’s Jr. restaurant, Cirkel K gas station, and the section of Storebæltsvej from Slipshavnsvej in the east to Banegårdsalléen in the west.

Residents and passersby in the area have been instructed to evacuate and follow police directions. The police stated that the investigation is ongoing, and more information will be shared as new details become available. As of 11:00 AM local time, police operations were still in full swing, and the area surrounding Nyborg Station has also been included in the danger zone, meaning the train station is temporarily inaccessible to users.

To further address the situation, a hazmat (hazardous materials) team, specialized in handling dangerous chemicals, has been called to the scene and is expected to arrive around noon.

Highway traffic around Nyborg is also being affected, with exit 44 in the westbound direction and exit 45 in the eastbound direction near Nyborg being closed to traffic.
