The Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has just launched his own YouTube channel, and the interest has already been overwhelming. Within just 90 minutes of the launch, over one million subscribers had signed up for the channel. The 39-year-old player, who has won the Ballon d’Or (an annual football award, recognizing the best male player), five times, currently plays for the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr (النصر السعودي) and has represented Portugal in international tournaments for more than two decades.
“The wait is over. My @YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and follow me on this new journey,” Ronaldo wrote on his social media accounts on Wednesday. Shortly after he published his first video, the channel had already attracted 1.69 million subscribers.
Ronaldo, who has 112.5 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), 170 million on Facebook, and 636 million on Instagram, is one of the most sought-after athletes on social media. He is now preparing for his team’s opening match in the Saudi Pro League against Al-Raed (الرائد) scheduled for Thursday.
With this latest addition to his digital presence, Ronaldo showcases once again his ability to engage with fans across platforms while continuing to build his brand value.
