The leader of the Conservative Party (De Konservative), Mona Juul, aims to unite a center-right government after the upcoming general election in Denmark. She views the Liberal Party (Venstre) and its leader, Troels Lund Poulsen, as potential keys to forming a “blue alliance,” a term used in Danish politics to refer to a coalition of center-right parties. However, she is somewhat reluctant to disclose the frequency of their discussions.
“I love to talk with all party leaders from every party, and I also chat with Troels Lund about everything under the sun,” Juul stated during her party’s summer group meeting in Nyborg, a coastal town in central Denmark known for hosting political gatherings.
While she refrained from providing specific details about their communications, Juul expressed optimism about cooperation within the blue bloc, as well as their collective ability to establish a government. She envisions that Venstre can be encouraged to rejoin the fold through shared political scenarios that could foster agreement among the center-right parties.
Mona Juul also confirmed that the Conservative Party is ready for participation in government, though she clarified that she does not aspire to the position of Prime Minister. This is a shift from her predecessor, Søren Pape Poulsen, who pursued the Prime Minister’s role during the last election. “This is not on the table. I have not had such grand ambitions. Ask me again another time,” Juul concluded during the press conference.
