YouSee and Copydan in Financial Dispute: Millions of Kroner Transferred
After a period of financial disagreement between the telecommunications company YouSee and the rights organization Copydan, a resolution has been reached in the dispute. This has resulted in a payment of 265 million Danish kroner (approximately 39 million USD) to Copydan World’s TV account. This information was provided by the Chairman of Copydan World’s TV, Jørgen Ramskov, to MediaWatch.
The disagreement began when Copydan accused YouSee of failing to pay for rights usage since April. YouSee denied these accusations and stated that all invoices had been settled. Nonetheless, a significant transfer occurred on Tuesday.
YouSee has confirmed the payment and referred to a desire to eliminate any doubt regarding their willingness to pay. Mikkel Riis-Jørgensen, the Communications Manager at Nuuday, which owns YouSee, stated to MediaWatch that YouSee transferred the full amount to Copydan despite the absence of clear invoices and responses from the rights organization.
Nuuday maintains that they have always compensated for the use of copyright. The conflict between the two parties continues even with an ongoing lawsuit.
Although the legal battle proceeds, the recent developments indicate that both parties are seeking a temporary resolution to the financial dispute.
