Østjyllands Police (Østjyllands Politi) has released two of the three men arrested in connection with a case of alleged rape and unlawful detention on Langenæs Allé in Aarhus over the weekend. This was confirmed by the police via the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The two men, along with a third individual, were detained on Saturday after authorities received a report of a suspected group assault. All three were presented in a preliminary hearing at the City Court of Aarhus (Retten i Aarhus) the following day and subsequently remanded in custody.
During the court hearing, which was held behind closed doors, Østjyllands Police indicated that they are still investigating the case and are searching for two additional suspects. Information about the case is limited, as police are withholding details to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Police have informed the news agency Ritzau that the victim and the arrested men encountered each other in the city. On Thursday, the police issued a call for potential witnesses, including a man in a white car who allegedly spoke with the woman on Langenæs Allé around 1 PM on Saturday. This interaction took place shortly after she left the apartment where police claim she was held against her will since 7 AM that morning.
In addition to the charges of rape, the men are also charged with unlawful detention. The police have not provided any information on why the grounds for the detention of the two released men are no longer valid. The investigation is ongoing, and police do not rule out the possibility of further arrests.
