Christian Juhl, a former member of the Danish Parliament (Folketinget) for the political party the Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten), has met multiple times with representatives of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), an organization known for its violent attacks against Israelis and classified as a terrorist group by both the European Union and the United States. These meetings occurred at Christiansborg, the Danish Parliament building, in 2012, 2018, and 2020.
Swedish terrorism researcher Magnus Ranstorp has expressed serious concern over a Danish politician granting access to an organization recognized as terrorists at the Danish Parliament. Ranstorp considers this a grave matter, given PFLP’s history of carrying out lethal attacks.
Christian Juhl has declined to participate in interviews but provided a brief written comment stating that during his time as a member of Parliament, he met with many individuals whom he “profoundly disagreed with.” He also emphasizes that he categorically condemns terrorism and violence against civilians, including actions taken by the PFLP. Juhl insists that the discussions revolved around the treatment and human rights of Palestinian prisoners.
Pernille Skipper, the former political leader of the Red-Green Alliance, remarked that she “strongly would have advised Juhl against such meetings.” The current group leader of the Red-Green Alliance, Trine Pertou Mach, has similarly condemned the actions of the PFLP, particularly referencing a specific terrorist attack on October 7, and asserts that the party’s members should not engage with representatives from terrorist organizations.
