Ligestillingsminister Marie Bjerre (V), Denmark’s Minister for Gender Equality, is currently at the center of a heated debate following her criticism of Copenhagen Pride and what she terms “wokeism.” This controversy has escalated with the launch of a provocative and satirical website aimed at mocking Bjerre. The site, mariebjerre.com, proclaims: “My name is Marie Bjerre. And I would like to be known as the worst Minister for Gender Equality in Denmark’s history.”
The site is presented as a satirical campaign page where visitors can vote for Bjerre as “the worst Minister for Gender Equality in Denmark’s history.” The creator of the website, who uses the pseudonym Ada Ada Ada and identifies as a transgender algorithmic artist, introduces the project with the following statement: “I hope to prove to you with this website that I truly deserve to be named the worst Minister for Gender Equality in Denmark’s history. In order to win your vote, I have gathered some ideas, data, and other content on this page. Please read through, and remember to vote for me at the bottom of the page.”
The website features charts discussing Bjerre’s so-called “impact on the happiness of transgender individuals” and includes satirical campaign slogans such as “A Minister for Gender Equality’s most important task is to strip away human rights.”
Ada has confirmed her identity to the Danish newspaper B.T., using the pronouns ‘she’ and ‘they.’ In a written comment, Ada explained the motivation behind the project: “As it appears that Marie Bjerre is more interested in provocation and art than reality, I thought that the best way to express my opinion on her role as Minister for Gender Equality would be through a provocative piece of internet art.” Ada further quipped, “Since she is also the Minister for Digitalization, I imagine she will appreciate that this is indeed digital art.”
B.T. has attempted to reach out to Marie Bjerre for a comment regarding the website, but has not received a response.
