Mid and West Jutland Police responded to an incident in Vorupør, located in Thy, on Sunday afternoon following reports that two children had been buried in a large landslide. According to the police, the report was received at 3:55 PM, prompting both emergency services and volunteers to commence immediate efforts to locate the children who had been trapped under the earth.
At 5:14 PM, TV Midtvest reported that both children had been rescued. Their condition was unknown at that time, but a medical helicopter had been dispatched to the scene to provide necessary assistance. Authorities were present in large numbers, which was confirmed by duty officer Jeppe Holtersen from Mid and West Jutland Police in a statement to Ritzau around 5:10 PM. However, he was unable to provide further information at that time.
Local media outlet Nordjyske reported that North Jutland Emergency Services (Nordjyllands Beredskab) had sent two helicopters as part of the rescue operation.
Earlier on Sunday morning, another mudslide occurred within the same police jurisdiction. In this incident, a ten-year-old German boy became trapped at a clay pit on Mors, an island in Denmark. He was quickly freed and flown to a hospital for a medical check-up, where his condition was described as good.
