On Monday morning, both the police and the fire department quickly arrived at Strøget, a popular shopping street in Copenhagen, following reports of a fire in an apartment on Ă˜stergade. This prompted temporary roadblocks in the area. The situation arose when a suspicious smell of smoke was noted nearby.
After thoroughly inspecting the building, the Capital Region’s Emergency Services (Hovedstadens Beredskab) determined that the smell of smoke had decreased and could not be traced to a specific source. Once the investigation was complete, the roadblocks were lifted, and Strøget was reopened to the public.
There remains no clear explanation for the origin of the smoke smell, but the emergency services quickly assessed that there was no immediate danger to the public.
