NEW YORK — The U.S. Open, the final Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, kicked off on Monday. Among the prominent names on the schedule for Day 1 are the defending champions Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic.

Gauff will take to the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium in the afternoon, where she is set to compete against Varvara Gracheva. Later in the evening, Djokovic will step into the arena to face Radu Albot in the last match on the main stadium.

Other players also in action include 2023 finalist Aryna Sabalenka, as well as American players Amanda Anisimova, Ben Shelton, and Taylor Fritz. Both top seeds, Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner, are scheduled to play their first-round matches on Tuesday.
