A taxi driver in Vesterbro, a district in Copenhagen, experienced an unsettling incident on Sunday evening when he became the target of a practical joke conceived by three men for social media purposes. This “violent practical joke” resulted in the arrest of the three men, all aged between 30 and 33, who have been charged with threats to life. This information was confirmed by the Copenhagen Police (Københavns Politi) in a statement on the social media platform X.

Although no one was seriously harmed, the police emphasize the seriousness of the incident. They indicate that the men could face claims for damages to the taxi if they are convicted. Details regarding the nature of the prank have not been disclosed, but the police took the opportunity to remind the public that filming – especially involving replica weapons – must always be reported in advance.

Deputy Chief Inspector Jesper Beuschel from the Citizen Crime Department (afdelingen for borgernær kriminalitet) strongly warns against such actions, which can create fear and insecurity among people. He pointed out that in a time of significant global uncertainty, staging scenarios that can be misunderstood as real threats is a very poor idea.

Beuschel further highlights the risks associated with using replica weapons in public spaces, as it can lead to police intervention under the assumption that individuals are armed. He urges individuals to think carefully before engaging in similar activities in public settings.
