Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen (Moderate Party) has been awarded the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassadors Prize for his efforts in promoting Copenhagen and Denmark on an international scale. The award is presented by Copenhagen Capacity in collaboration with Wonderful Copenhagen and honors individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution to promoting Denmark and Danes abroad.
In a special ceremony held at Copenhagen City Hall, Lars Løkke Rasmussen received the award from Mayor Sophie Hæstorp Andersen (Social Democrats). Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, Chairman of the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassadors and former Mayor of Copenhagen, praised the Foreign Minister in a press release for his unwavering commitment to strengthening Denmark’s global relations and for his specific focus on Danes living abroad.
Lars Løkke Rasmussen expressed great humility in receiving the award and highlighted its personal significance. He emphasized his systematic efforts to improve the conditions for Danes living overseas, viewing this community as an important part of Denmark’s identity, even though their significance is often overlooked.
This award marks the third instance it has been presented. Last year, the distinction was awarded to Stéphanie Surrugue, an international correspondent for Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR), for her program series “Danes in the World” on DR.
