A 35-year-old man from Northern Jutland has admitted to committing severe violence and stalking against his ex-girlfriend. He is now facing sentencing at the Hjørring District Court (Retten i Hjørring) on September 9. The violence and harassment occurred despite the fact that he had been issued a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the woman.
The case began in January when the man attempted to hit the woman with a piece of split firewood. Later, on the night of February 13, the violence escalated significantly; he pushed her to the ground, kicked her, and stomped on her neck. That same evening, he also vandalized her home by smashing a bedside table and creating holes in a door with a sledgehammer.
On February 15, a restraining order was placed against him, prohibiting contact with the woman. However, just eight minutes later, he broke the order by calling his ex-girlfriend’s sister and threatening her with violence. Subsequently, he repeatedly violated the restraining order by sending friend requests on social media, making FaceTime calls, and texting the woman.
His actions extended to puncturing his sister’s car tires and stealing items from his ex-girlfriend’s garden, including a grill and a potted plant. On April 12, he made another phone call in which he threatened to kill the woman. A few days later, the man was arrested and has been in custody since April 18.
The upcoming court proceedings will clarify the man’s final sentence for the severe violence and repeated violations that culminated in his arrest in April.
