A man in his late twenties has been remanded in custody for four weeks, charged with the rape of a child under 15 years of age as well as witness intimidation. At a preliminary hearing in the Copenhagen City Court (Københavns Byret) on Tuesday, the male educator and contact person denied all allegations as untrue.
According to the charges, the man’s actions involve three incidents of rape. The first incident is described as the rape of a minor girl at an unspecified time last year. He allegedly coerced the girl into taking a seat in the back of a car in Copenhagen, where he then forced her into sexual contact. After the assault, he reportedly went to a pharmacy to purchase an emergency contraceptive pill, which he made the girl take under his supervision.
The second reported rape allegedly took place in a disabled toilet in a shopping center in Copenhagen, where he again is said to have coerced the girl into sexual contact. The third accusation concerns an incident in November of last year, during which the man reportedly raped the girl in a car in Copenhagen. She attempted to escape but was allegedly restrained by the man, who locked the door before the assault.
Furthermore, the prosecution claims that between May of last year and August of this year, the man attempted to threaten the girl into silence. He allegedly threatened to harm her and her family and claimed to have previously been a member of the now-banned gang Loyal To Familia (LTF).
Due to concerns that he could influence the investigation, destroy evidence, or threaten witnesses, he has been remanded in custody. The court session was held behind closed doors, and the man’s own statement has not been made public. He will remain in custody for 27 days as the case continues to be investigated.
