Great Belt Bridge temporarily closed for maintenance, traffic redirected successfully.

The Storebælt Bridge was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic on Tuesday morning from 5:01 AM to 5:32 AM. According to a press release from Sund og Bælt (Sund & Bælt), the closure was due to a planned traffic rerouting. Traffic manager Martin Jensen stated that the rerouting was part of scheduled maintenance work. “We are in the process of returning to normal traffic again, and we expect to reopen at 5:45 AM,” he commented shortly after the bridge’s closure.

The bridge’s official website further elaborated that the reason for the closure was painting work on the East Bridge (Østbroen) in the eastbound direction. This maintenance effort also led to a brief closure on Monday evening from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM.
