A 46-year-old man has been found guilty of manslaughter for the death of his friend, Søren Eliassen, after inflicting at least four stab wounds, according to the Næstved Court (Retten i Næstved). The incident occurred on March 17, 2023, at Eliassen’s home in Korsør, Denmark.
The Næstved Court delivered the verdict on Tuesday, determining that the 46-year-old man had stabbed the 56-year-old Søren Eliassen three times in the chest and once in the arm. The convicted individual, who claims to have no recollection of the event, is currently awaiting sentencing, which is expected to be announced later today.
The two men had known each other for many years and were part of an environment affected by substance abuse, where alcohol played a significant role. The charge against the 46-year-old arose after police received a report of a possible murder on the evening of March 17. Deputy Police Inspector Rune Dahl Nilsson stated at the time to the Danish news agency Ritzau that the police quickly confirmed Eliassen’s death, and the suspected perpetrator was arrested shortly thereafter.
This case has reached a preliminary conclusion with the verdict, but it is expected to attract further attention when the sentencing is made public.
