There are ongoing issues with the collaboration between staff and management at Agedrup School in Odense Municipality, according to a new report by Deloitte. The investigation was commissioned by the Children and Young People Committee (Børn- og Ungeudvalget) of the municipality after approximately 100 concerned parents sent a letter expressing their frustration over incidents of inappropriate behavior among students.
Deloitte conducted a thorough examination that included surveys and interviews with employees at the school. The findings reveal that half of the staff do not feel comfortable involving the school management in addressing issues. The report highlights that parts of the staff feel they cannot engage in constructive dialogue with management, and they perceive that management does not trust their professionalism. The atmosphere is described as harsh and direct, with instances where reprimands have occurred in front of students.
However, the school management disagrees with the staff’s perceptions. They assert that interventions and corrections only take place when necessary, for example, if staff members repeatedly act contrary to the school’s view on children and education.
