Thomas Blachman Returns as Judge on “X Factor” for the 17th Time
Thomas Blachman is set to return as a judge on “X Factor” for the 17th time, joining familiar faces Oh Land and Simon Kvamm. These three personalities will again take their seats at the judges’ panel when the 18th season of the popular talent show premieres next year, according to an announcement from TV 2 during a press conference held on Thursday.
“We have never doubted that this was exactly the judge trio we wanted, and fortunately, they have agreed to another season,” stated Dorte Borregaard, TV 2’s entertainment editor.
Thomas Blachman, known for his critical and sharp judging style, has been a staple of the show almost since its inception and has been a leading force in most seasons. He has won the competition five times. Oh Land, entering her fifth season, and Simon Kvamm, who joined the program in 2023, complete the trio.
Despite Simon Kvamm being the newest addition to the judging panel, he has already proven his worth by having a winner in both his first two seasons. His background as the lead vocalist for the Danish band Nephew has also provided him with a unique perspective in evaluating the contestants.
On the hosting front, Maria Fantino will once again lead the show. She took over the hosting role from Sofie Linde last season and was announced in May as the host for the upcoming season.
“’X Factor’ has always been my dream job, and my first season confirmed that it is a dream job for a reason,” Maria Fantino said during her introduction.
“X Factor,” originally created by English producer and talent scout Simon Cowell, has been a fixture of Danish television since 2008. After Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) decided to discontinue the program in 2018, TV 2 acquired the rights and has successfully continued the show ever since.
The 18th season of “X Factor” is set to premiere in early 2025, promising yet another round of exciting and entertaining talent competition.
