A 23-year-old man is now facing charges related to a violent incident that occurred last year in Copenhagen. According to legal documents presented by the prosecution from the Copenhagen Police (Københavns Politi) during the summer, the man is accused of creating a homemade bomb using a firecracker and a bottle of gasoline. This explosion took place at a cafe-like venue on Frederiksborgvej in the North West District (Nordvestkvarter) of Copenhagen on the night of October 5, 2023.

The indictment specifies that the man faces serious charges, including particularly severe weapons offenses, explosion with intent, and arson. It is noteworthy that there are no charges under the so-called gang paragraph, even though the police initially could not rule out a connection to gang environments. This speculation arose because the explosion occurred only a few weeks after a similar incident at a Hells Angels clubhouse on Svanevej, also located in the North West District.

When the now 23-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident, there were initial suspicions that he might be linked to one of the two criminal groups in conflict in the area. However, the police have been unable to establish a concrete connection between the explosion on Frederiksborgvej and the ongoing conflict.

The motive behind the explosion remains unclear and is not mentioned in the indictment. The incident resulted in significant material damage, which according to the legal documents amounts to at least 400,000 Danish kroner (approximately 54,000 USD).

It is now up to the legal system to determine the consequences of this alarming incident for the accused man.
