Denmark Increases Commitment to Ukraine’s Reconstruction with New Economic Initiative
Denmark is enhancing its involvement in the reconstruction of Ukraine with a new economic initiative involving 1.5 billion kroner (approximately $220 million) in loans and guarantees designated for Danish business projects in the country. This was announced by the Ministry of Business (Erhvervsministeriet), which characterizes the funds as “new money.”
Business Minister Morten Bødskov emphasized that Denmark has significantly contributed to Ukraine’s fight for freedom since the onset of the war, including economic support schemes that position Danish companies as key players in Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts.
The Danish government has specifically allocated 500 million kroner to the Ukraine Fund (Ukrainefonden) as part of the upcoming budget proposal for 2025. This investment will enable additional loans and guarantees amounting to up to 1.5 billion kroner, aimed at supporting Danish business projects in Ukraine. Bødskov highlighted that Denmark continues its steadfast and unwavering support for Ukraine and that the Danish business community demonstrates strong backing for the nation.
The funds will be managed by the Danish Export and Investment Fund (Danmarks Eksport- og Investeringsfond), ensuring that the financial resources are effectively directed towards fostering development and opportunities for Danish enterprises in Ukraine.
