A 28-year-old man is on trial in a severe case related to aiding and abetting a shooting murder in Brøndby, a suburb of Copenhagen. In court at the Glostrup District Court, he defends himself against allegations of having assisted two men before and after the murder of a 27-year-old man in November 2022. The murder occurred in a parking lot on Brøndby Nord Vej and happened in the presence of the victim’s three-year-old son.
Special prosecutor Henrik Uhl Pedersen asserts that the evidence clearly points to the accused. According to the prosecution, every piece of investigative evidence has found its place, and if this was all just a coincidence, the accused would be “the world’s most unlucky man.” However, the 28-year-old is not charged with being present during the shooting itself but is accused of helping to secure a getaway car and aiding the perpetrators after the murder.
Defense attorney Anders Schønnemann Olesen maintains his client’s innocence, arguing that the prosecutor’s conclusions are based on shaky premises. Olesen contends that the prosecutor’s presentation of probabilities in the case does not hold up and insists that any reasonable doubt should benefit his client. He references legal texts to support his claim that the factual circumstances of the case are too sparse for a conviction.
The disagreement between the prosecutor and the defense attorney is evident, particularly when discussing evidence such as video surveillance, telecommunications data, and license plate recognition. The prosecution also maintains that the murder was part of an ongoing gang conflict and retaliation for a previous double murder in Kalundborg, a town in western Zealand.
The Glostrup District Court is set to issue a ruling on the matter of guilt on September 9. As the evidence has been presented and debated, both the accused and his relatives are anxiously awaiting the court’s decision.
