Community Concerns: Mysterious Man Breaking into Homes at Night
Tina Olsen from Viby Sjælland experienced a frightening incident when she was awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of her utility room door opening suddenly. Initially, she thought it was her husband coming home from a concert, but she quickly remembered that he had already returned. Fear set in when a stranger entered her home’s utility room.
“Fortunately, we have a guard dog, and she responds quickly to me. So she rushed out, and the man didn’t get further than the utility room,” Tina Olsen recounted. The guard dog, Thyra, was later rewarded with extra treats for her efforts. Tina could hear the man fleeing as Thyra chased after him down a path.
Tina Olsen’s experience is unfortunately not isolated. The Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi) have received multiple reports from residents in Gadstrup and Viby Sjælland about a mysterious man who has been spotted wandering near people’s homes during the night. In some instances, he has even managed to break into houses.
“It has been really unsettling,” said Tina Olsen, who noted that the man’s intentions remain unknown. “To my knowledge, he has only stolen something from one place, but that doesn’t make it any less frightening. You don’t know what he wants, and it’s truly disturbing.”
Although the police have not yet determined if the man seen in Gadstrup and Viby Sjælland is the same individual, Tina Olsen is convinced they are. She has viewed surveillance footage and images shared in local Facebook groups, and she believes there are clear similarities.
Tina is sharing her experience to raise awareness about the man’s activities, encouraging vigilance in the surrounding towns. “It has become a major topic of conversation here. We need to look out for each other in small communities,” she stated.
On the night of the incident, Tina’s door was unlocked, and she admits that this has not always been a consistent practice for her. She intends to change that now. “We live in a peaceful area where we know our neighbors. Normally, we don’t lock our doors from the inside at night, but we will start doing that now,” she said, adding that the incident has been reported to the police.
The Mid and West Zealand Police have indicated that they have received around ten inquiries about the mysterious man and have increased patrols in the area with unmarked vehicles, although they have not encountered him yet. Residents are encouraged to ensure their doors and windows are securely locked at night.
The community is on high alert, and residents have started taking extra precautions in hopes of avoiding further unsettling incidents.
