A young man was transferred early Saturday morning to Odense University Hospital following a serious traffic accident near Vojens, Denmark. The 18-year-old man was in critical condition when a medical helicopter arrived to take him to the hospital, according to Sune Loklindt, duty officer at the South and Southern Jutland Police (Syd- og Sønderjyllands Politi).
The accident occurred in Hammelev, a locality situated between Vojens and Haderslev. At an intersection between Ribevej and Hammelev Bygade, the young driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and landed on its side. There were three young individuals in the car, all of whom sustained injuries in the incident. The 18-year-old driver suffered the most severe injuries.
“The 18-year-old was immediately flown to the hospital. A 17-year-old passenger was initially reported to be seriously injured, but his condition is now stable. The third passenger, a 16-year-old, sustained minor injuries,” said Sune Loklindt.
The police received reports of the accident at 2:33 AM. A traffic inspector was called to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the incident. The inspector’s role includes analyzing factors such as speed and potential braking, which is standard procedure in serious traffic accidents. The relatives of the 18-year-old driver have been informed about the incident.
