The Police of South Zealand and Lolland-Falster (Sydsjællands og Lolland-Falsters Politi) are working to establish the identity of a man who was found dead in an inflatable kayak near Glænø on Saturday evening. The discovery was made approximately 100 meters from the shore, where he was found unresponsive. The police received the report shortly after 7 PM, but more than 12 hours later, the man’s identity remains unknown.
Duty Officer Morten Kronbo has stated that an autopsy will be conducted early next week to determine both the identity and cause of death. Additional investigations will also take place at the location where the man was found.
The police are currently treating the case as a suspicious death, as is standard procedure until the cause of death is conclusively determined. This means that all possible scenarios, including accident, natural causes, and criminal activity, are still being considered in the investigation. The police aim to ensure that no significant evidence is overlooked in case it turns out to be a criminal matter.
Information that could clarify the case and the deceased’s identity is actively sought by the police, who have also issued a request for assistance through social media.
