The government has convened an educational policy summit, set to take place over two days in October. The event will bring together six ministers, including Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen. The summit will be held in Odense on October 9 and 10 and will include both overnight accommodations and a joint dinner.
The purpose of the summit is to discuss how Denmark can adapt its education system to meet future demands. The agenda has not yet released further details, but it is clear that a wide range of participants from the educational policy landscape will be present.
Minister of Finance Stephanie Lose, Minister of Children and Education Mattias Tesfaye, and Minister of Education and Research Christina Egelund will also participate in the meeting. Education has been a central issue for the Social-Liberal Party (SVM) government, which has already implemented a reform of university education. The government has also enacted a student support reform, and plans to introduce a new reform for professional education later this year. Additionally, a new agreement regarding public schools has been established, focusing on increased local autonomy, and Mattias Tesfaye is working on introducing a new youth education initiative.
