After four years in the position as the top executive of Statistics Denmark, Birgitte Anker has chosen to resign from her position. Statistics Denmark announced the news in a press release, where Anker stated that her decision was not based on another job offer. “My decision is not due to me finding another job – as there is, of course, no job that can compete with the position of chief statistician. My decision stems from the desire for a life with greater flexibility, where there is room for other things besides work,” says Birgitte Anker. She adds: “Life is not eternal, and if I am to try to live it in a slightly different way, it has to be now.” Laila Mortensen, vice-chair of the Statistics Denmark board, emphasizes that the board has valued the cooperation with Birgitte Anker and respects her decision. “In the board, we have been pleased with the cooperation with Birgitte, and we understand and respect her choice to resign from her position. Birgitte, with her strong expertise and many years of experience as a top leader, has made a solid impact on Statistics Denmark. Many thanks to Birgitte for a great and significant effort,” says Laila Mortensen.
