Danish Moderate Party in Crisis: Allegations of Bullying and Sexism Reported

The internal situation within the Moderates (Moderaterne) party has taken a serious turn after several employees reported the party to the Danish Working Environment Authority (Arbejdstilsynet). Allegations of bullying and sexism have shaken the party, placing several key figures, including newly appointed Minister Caroline Stage, at the center of the accusations.

Member of Parliament Jeppe Søe has also sent a lengthy message to party leader Lars Løkke Rasmussen, in which he outlines his conversations with party employees over the past week. Much of this email has now been shared with the party’s central board. Søe expresses grave concern for the party’s future, believing that the current situation could end critically for the organization.

Benjamin Lindberg, chairman of the Moderates in the Greater Zealand constituency (Storsjællands Storkreds), has expressed surprise at the revelations and stated that the matter will be discussed at both the central board meeting and the upcoming leaders’ summit. He emphasizes that the matter is of such an urgent nature that it cannot be delayed.

Jeppe Søe has publicly declared that he will not be part of such a problematic culture and demands that the issue be addressed seriously and immediately. He further points out that the party, behind the scenes, has not lived up to its public promises regarding a whistleblower scheme and responsible human resources practices.

The employees have named several key figures in their complaint to the Working Environment Authority, and Søe warns that the consequences could be devastating for the party if swift and decisive action is not taken. He compares the situation to previous issues within the party and regards this current crisis as the most serious to date.

The leadership of the Moderates has yet to issue an official statement in response to these serious allegations and the critical email from Jeppe Søe.
