A tragic bus accident east of Vicksburg, Mississippi, has resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a six-year-old boy and his 16-year-old sister. This was confirmed by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey, who also noted that the deceased had been identified by their mother.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday on Interstate 20 near Bovina in Warren County, when a 2018 Volvo passenger bus, traveling westbound, veered off the road and overturned. The Mississippi Highway Patrol reported that 37 passengers were transported to various hospitals with unknown injuries. The co-driver was not taken to the hospital.
“When there are people who are injured or killed, it is tragic, but when it involves a situation like this, where there are multiple fatalities and many injuries, it makes it even worse,” said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace to an ABC-affiliated station.
Huskey stated that most of the passengers on the bus were from Latin America, and authorities are continuing their efforts to identify the remaining victims. No further information has been released at this time.
