Moderates party faces internal controversy over workplace environment allegations.

Internal Strife Within the Moderates Party Regarding Workplace Environment

Concerns have emerged within the Moderates Party (Moderaterne) regarding the workplace environment, as a complaint submitted to the Danish Working Environment Authority (Arbejdstilsynet) alleges incidents of bullying and sexism. This issue has prompted party secretary Kirsten Munch Andersen to deliver a clear message to the party’s staff: “We do not accept sexism and bullying.”

Two weeks ago, the Working Environment Authority was informed about the alleged issues within the party’s secretariat. Munch Andersen has taken the situation seriously and scheduled a meeting to discuss the circumstances and outline next steps.

In an interview with TV 2, Munch Andersen stated that the party has responded to all concerns regarding the workplace environment. “We have listened to, discussed, and acted on all inquiries that may have arisen. I do not recognize the image that is being portrayed,” she explained, emphasizing that there have been no violations of the party’s Code of Conduct.

However, some employees remain dissatisfied, including student assistant Nathalie Mortensen. She believes that the party secretary has not adequately responded to the concerns raised. Mortensen personally contacted Munch Andersen on July 1 to express her worry about a supervisor’s sexual relationships with employees.

Several staff members have supported Mortensen’s claims and described the assertion that sufficient action was taken as “directly false.” Kirsten Munch Andersen has maintained that she has handled the inquiries correctly but admits there is a need to address and eliminate inappropriate language, which she asserts she has done.

The party now faces a critical period focused on improving the workplace environment and ensuring a safe and respectful workplace.
